I didn’t manage to spa anywhere in Mongolia... first few truly magical days. Dinosaurs, rocks, friends, bad champagne, camping, and Yak's milk soap.
Cooking is all about people. Food is maybe the only universal thing that really has the power to bring everyone together. No matter what culture, everywhere around the world, people get together to eat.
...the broader message is one of wellness, and pampering your soul. Take time out in your travels to fully appreciate who you are with, where you are, what is around you. Travel isn’t about getting the perfect social media photograph, just like 700,000 other tourists. Or touring every single historic or cultural must-see, must-do of a place. It’s about being in the moment. Finding places and people that soothe your soul.
While my memories of Harbin Hot Springs are almost 30 years old, the emotions that are attached to the memory are warm, wonderful and uplifting.
What made this hammam different? So many details were exactly as they should have been. The garden in the riad courtyard had fountains lush and overflowing with rose petals...
I have to admit I was nervous about sharing something I love so much with someone who might not like the experience. How wrong I was.
If you would like to have an authentic experience, opt for the Russian banya where you can lounge between your ‘sweat and dunk’ and order cured meats of dubious origin, vodka and beer.
